What Our Guests Have Been Saying
"We had an amazing stay at this beautiful house on Shumont Mountain! Sipping coffee and enjoying the view from the top deck was like heaven early in the morning.
The home was cozy and spacious and seemed brand new. The beds were so clean and comfy and we slept great. Our kids loved the bunk room downstairs with lots of toys and books. The hosts had lots of baby gear in the closet so you don’t need to bring anything if you have little ones!
The location was quiet and secluded and everything we hoped an Appalachian getaway would be like. My husband is a fly fisherman and had a great time fishing just a 10-15 min drive from the house and caught native brook trout in the Broad River!
GPS apps worked for finding the property (unlike some cabins we have been to!) We were able to find the long gravel driveway easily but fyi you can’t see the house from the road or driveway.
All in all, great place and great vacation. The area was gorgeous and we hope to be back to the area in the fall!" - KT
"The Cabin was absolutely beautiful! It had all of the amenities my family and I needed. The Cabin was very neat and clean as well. If we had any questions, Shane would respond in a quick, timely manner and was very friendly as well. The views were absolutely wonderful and the area was peaceful and quiet. I would definitely recommend this Cabin to others and visit again in the future!" - HN
"The cabin is beautiful, private and has an amazing view. 2 bedrooms on the main floor and 2 downstairs worked out well for us with 3 teenagers. The kitchen was supplied with quality items and everything I needed for a meal was available for me to use. I even used the rolling pin to make tortillas. We found the cabin to be very relaxing and didn’t mind staying in when it rained." - BN
"The property was a gem to stay in for my family! There was plenty of room for each family member. We were able to come together and share our experiences and also had space to retreat to. We enjoyed all the amenities that his cabin had to offer. Our family’s ages ranged from the youngest at 4 yrs old to 64 yrs old. There is something for everyone. It’s in the mountains so be prepared to take a little drive to places. Also, enjoy the view of the mountains and the wild life that you will experience. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to explore and get away from it all!." - SH
"Our family of 4 adults and a small dog had plenty of space. The house is well stocked with everything you need. It has beautiful views of the mountains. It is in close proximity to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and Asheville. One of the best vacation home hosts we’ve experienced - great communications!" - TT
"We absolutely loved our stay at Misty Mountain Cabin! It was such a peaceful escape, and the perfect spot for our little family. We were traveling with our infant and toddler, and it was such a relief to find a place that was so kid-friendly—there was a crib, pack 'n play, high chair, and even toys, which made things so much easier.
The cabin itself is gorgeous and super spacious, and the views are unreal. We loved starting our morning with coffee on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the sunrise. Total dream.
It feels really private and quiet, but it’s still close to Lake Lure, Asheville, Black Mountain, and Hendersonville—lots of cute spots to eat and explore nearby. Chimney Rock wasn’t open yet but I heard it was opening this summer!
We already can’t wait to come back!" - JL
"We had an amazing stay at Misty Mountain Cabin with our 3 kids and 2 friends (7 of us total). The layout was perfect—spacious and family-friendly, with the kids happily hanging out downstairs in the mornings while the rest of the house slept in (comfy beds!) .
The views were absolutely beautiful, and the top deck quickly became our favorite spot for morning coffee, s’mores at night, and cool-weather dinners outside.
The kitchen was the most well-stocked of any vacation home I’ve stayed at—truly everything you could need. The hosts have thought of everything for families: a dedicated toy room, door at the top of the stairs, kid-friendly dishes, high chairs, and more. And for adults, the hot tub, ping pong table, and two fire pits made for plenty of fun and relaxation.
We took day trips to Asheville, Catawba Falls, Hendersonville, and Black Mountain —and we can’t wait to come back once Chimney Rock and Lake Lure are open again.
Highly recommend and already looking forward to our next stay!" - AL
"Misty Mountain was the perfect little getaway spot!! The views were spectacular and the whole entire cabin had that perfect, quaint feeling!! Although this was a quick trip, I cannot wait to come back with my family for a longer stay to fully enjoy the area!! The hosts were great to work with also." - TY
